HONESTY’S TOO EASY

I tell you
That I love you
More than I do
They seem such simple words
But they’re not true

I try to say
All the things
You mean to me
It always seems so easy to say
But what does it mean

There’s a truth
In simple lies
Taking us out of our lives
There’s no room for us
As far as I can see
Honesty’s too easy
Because the truth
Can set you free

I try to be
All the things
I ought to be
Someone for you to lean on
But it’s not me

I try to care
About all the things
That I should
Caring about you and me
